Mutu, Tamas get lifetime ban from Romanian team for drinking

Adrian Mutu has a long history of off-the-pitch trouble and lengthy bans from the game that have resulted from it, but none as lengthy as his latest. Mutu and Romania teammate Gabriel Tamas were caught breaking team rules by going out for a drink two nights before their match against San Marino and now they're both paying for that decision in the form of lifetime bans from the team.

From the AP:

Romania coach Victor Piturca says Cesena striker Mutu and West Bromwich Albion defender Tamas defied orders by going out and drinking on Monday. Romania beat San Marino 1-0 on Wednesday.

It is the latest in a long line of troubled episodes for Mutu. In October, while at Fiorentina, he attacked a barman little more than a week before his return from a nine-month doping ban.

In 2004, the 32-year-old was sacked by Chelsea and banned for seven months having tested positive for cocaine. He was ordered to pay Chelsea $24 million in compensation.

Oh, Adrian Mutu, will you ever learn? At this point, he'd be much better off as a cast member on "Jersey Shore" than being a footballer. At least there he would get rewarded for doing these kinds of things instead of punished.
